Overnight Outing to Winthrop, October 2006

Jay and I had a lovely weekend outing to the "frontier" town of Winthrop, Washington. Winthrop is on the other side of the Cascade Mountains, following the SR20 part of the scenic Cascade Loop Highway. The SR20 mountain pass is closed part of the winter due to avalanches and the scenery includes three big hydroelectric dams (generating power for Seattle). It was supposed to be rainy, but ended up being wonderful fall weather and a beautiful drive both over and back:

River view at lunch spot.

Cindy at cabin, must be tired...

Living area of cabin.

Private hot tub on the deck.

Roof detail.

After checking out the cabin, we hang around...
